Teacher Job Shadowing

What is teacher job shodowing?
One of the most effective ways of enriching professional development is by shadowing a colleague in another school in another country. The experience allows the teacher to develop their portfolio of teaching strategies.
Teacher job shadowing is a very effective form of professional development with many potential benefits for teachers. It provides teachers with opportunities to observe other teaching practices and enriches the process of continuing professional development
Is it right for me?
At the Brighton & Hove Education Academy (BHEA) in the UK, we have designed one week shadowing programmes for primary, secondary and vocational teachers across a range of subjects. The guided observation programme is bespoke to fit the exact needs of the sending institution and teachers and takes place in carefully-selected UK classrooms.
What is included?
We provide a complete one week package including hotel accommodation, meals, sightseeing tour and a minimum of 15 hours of teacher shadowing. Shadowing takes place in schools and colleges ranging from primary and secondary to further and higher education.
We provide observational guidelines during the meet and greet orientation session on day 1. This enables teachers to get the most from their UK classroom experience.
On the final day, we host a best practice, feedback session to consider the insights which the teachers have gained and how these can be applied in the home country. This then allows the teachers to present their findings to colleagues in their home school or college.
Local support takes place throughout the visit. All participating teachers receive certification.
